Cinnamon Apples
Warm Apple Pie Filling in a Bowl
When Reagan was little she loved to get cinnamon apples as a side when we went to Chili's. She loved them so much that I decided I could make my own version in the rice cooker.
Ingredients
6 Honeycrisp apples
2 Granny Smith apples
1/3 cup sugar
2 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 almost heaping Tablespoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 Tablespoon butter
¼ cup of apple juice (could also just use water)
Instructions
Peel and large chop the apples. Place in rice cooker. Add all other ingredients. Toss to coat apples, then cook on the white rice setting. I didn’t want the apples to lose their shape, so I just checked on it until it was like what I wanted, but you can just let it finish the cooking cycle.
Ideas
You can substitue apple cider for the apple juice. I just go with what I have on hand depending on the time of year.
Puree them for cinnamon applesauce.
Serve them on top of vanilla ice cream or your morning oatmeal.
